Thursday, January 31st, 2008
As a mom I’m always on the lookout for things to make my life easier. Amazon is now offering grocery shopping through their subscribe and save program, as I’m sure most of my computer savvy readers have seen. They claim to save the shopper 10-15% and you’ll never run out of items. They have free shipping as well…so what’s the catch?
Benefits of Me Time
Wednesday, January 30th, 2008
One of my new year’s resolutions was to take more time for myself. Ya, guess what, I haven’t done it. But today I am starting to go to the gym for some “me-time”. Now mind you, I don’t like gyms, I am a germaphobe, and I don’t think I need to lose weight. So why would I do this? What are the big benefits of me time? What will it do that a quick naptime for the kids won’t?
“Me time” or “personal time” has many benefits.
Selling Something? This Can Help.
Tuesday, January 29th, 2008I’ve always wanted to start my own business. My MBA actually has an emphasis in Entrepreneurship, so I studied quite a bit on starting up and keeping a business going. The only thing I haven’t done is taken the big plunge.
One of my goals for this year is to start selling some of my Norwegian crafts online (and yes, there’s actually a market for it). So I’ve got the website all set up in my head, but what about the shopping cart aspect of a website?
Where The Hell Is My Oxytocin!
Monday, January 28th, 2008I was amazed when I went through childbirthing classes that we have this thing called oxytocin in our bodies. Basically it’s the natural hormone that is released to give a eurphoric feeling after birth and helps in the bonding process. In addition, breastfeeding is supposed to give you that same hormone, giving you the “everything will be all right” feeling. So where the hell is my oxytocin!
Does Target Hit The Grocery Mark?
Sunday, January 27th, 2008
Primarily retail stores have started to offer fairly full grocery offerings as well, many of them putting “Super” in front of their names, like Super Target. I keep hearing a rumor that Super Target actually has cheaper prices than regular grocery stores, but do they compare?
I went to our nearby Target, what my husband and I call “the hundred dollar store” the last time I needed a few things for groceries to see if this was true.
Here are a few things in review:
I Want That Lottery!
Friday, January 25th, 2008
The lottery, that mythical pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, the game that sucks away almost $45 billion dollars a year from hard working Joes. But, is it a good strategy to making your riches?

Household Manager or Butler?
Thursday, January 24th, 2008
When I quit my job to stay at home, I left behind a plethora of titles. Throughout my career I’ve always loved titles, and fought very hard to get them. I loved the words “supervisor” and “senior” in any title, as I felt way more important than the people without those words in their titles. I was ecstatic to have “MBA” behind my name, as I worked my butt off to get that one. But now I had to find a new title.
Recommendation Overload for Parents
Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008
Today parents seem to need an enormous amount of help with raising their children. There are books, TV shows, hell, and even these types of blogs to help us out. Let me just say I’ve used every resource available to me to help me “learn” how to become a good parent. I had to learn quicker than most, as my daughter didn’t become my daughter until she was two (she is my step daughter). I was lucky enough to start with the terrible two’s! Now with my son I get to go through the baby stage as well.
Some Things to Consider Before Staying Home With the Kids
Monday, January 21st, 2008
So it’s decision time. You don’t know if you should stay home with the kids or continue to work out in the real world. I know when that decision came up for me, it was a rather hard one. I was at a great point in my career, earning more than I ever thought I would. I had gained respect in the business world, something I worked very hard to obtain. I had the house, the BMW in the garage, the 401k was looking extremely nice. Now along comes a baby…
