Economy and Gambling
Friday, February 29th, 2008I wanted to do another update on some of the online gambling sites that are taking the net by storm. I heard on the news today that due to the downturn in the economy, many of the physical casinos are having a hard time getting people in the door. They say that people are getting tighter with their money and, even though the casino industry has always been recession proof, there seems to be an effect that is trickling into even that sector. So will it hit the online casino trade as well? Only time will tell.
When To Have That Next Baby

As I held rocked my sleeping son in my arms tonight, I gazed at his perfect face and was in awe. How could this perfect creature come out of me? I wondered what he will be when he grows up and then I teared up. I’ve been blessed with such a miracle. As I held him, cuddling him warm in my safe arms I wondered what it would be like to have him meet his baby sister or brother. But when is the right time to have another baby?

Our daughter got her karate uniform last night, way too cute!! Her karate teacher trys to teach the kids extra stuff, not just karate. He makes them yell “I will respect my parents” among other things. At the end of each class he sits them down and gives them “homework”. Some of this homework isn’t what my daughter had in mind.

My undergrad was in Accounting, so I’ve been schooled on taxes. I even worked for a CPA firm a little after graduation during tax season (which by the way is what made me never want to be a tax accountant). One of the most important things that came out of my undergrad tax classes was the school of thought that a persons goal should be to get no refund.
Follow Up On The Roll

This site has the same type of stuff, but it has editor reviews along side of it. As we all know there is a difference between user ratings and editor picks, so this is a huge plus.
They also have different pages for best voted by players. I’d take a players vote over an editor’s pic any day.

I was watching TV the other day, my daily dose of Star Trek Voyager (I know I’m a big geek), and they had a commercial on for one of those online gambling sites. My first thoughts on this are that there is no way I’d do this and it was a waste of time. But then I remembered my sister and her husband play poker online and say it’s crazy fun. It got me to thinking, maybe it would be fun.

That being said, I know that we need to cut even more off our grocery bill and we need to work on cutting out even more of our eating out (FYI, we’ve already planned to go out tonight for dinner, guess we’ll start that budget piece tomorrow).
