Mommies Home has been going through some changes, both in style and now in some of the content as well. Since the birth of my son, the amount of time I can spend on the computer has dropped substantially. With a newborn, a rambunctious two year old and a very busy seven year old, things were down to a crawl. But just like any mom, I’m pretty much back to a good rhythm.
A few months ago I was finding it hard to get a shower in every other day or even do menial tasks around the house. Then our whole family came down with H1N1. Took me out of the game for almost two full weeks. But now I have my routine down to where I can get a workout in everyday, get the house work done, make dinner and even get a shower in. I also am able to devote more time to the blog, which I have missed quite a bit.
All of that being said, I’ve changed the layout of the blog and also will be changing some of the content to be more on target with my subject matter. Hope you all enjoy!
It has been one heck of a long time that we’ve been waiting to find a new home and move out of our current place, but it’s finally going to happen! So with that said, here’s some common issues when moving with children… Read the rest of this entry »
What an interesting concept…babies beginning their reading venture at 3 months of age! Honestly, they have infomercials out on them now. So I thought I would look into this trend and see if it truly is something to invest in.
Recently on the news you may have seen a story about a mother who has a warrant out for her arrest for failing to comply with a court order to have her sons cancer treated with chemo.
Upon thinking about it, I could see both sides of the current argument going on surrounding this. On one hand, there is a child that could possibly be saved by having this done (or should I say have “more” done, as he’s already gone through some treatments). Isn’t it our duty to help and protect life?
Then again, the other side of the argument is the one I relate to more. The boys parents state that it is against their religious beliefs to have their son continue. Honestly, I’m sure it is a horrible experience to watch your child under go that type of procedure. I’m not sure what I’d do if my religion had strong views against this type of thing, in addition to watching my child suffer.
What would you do? I do think this woman loves her son deeply, what a impossible decision to make. I stand by my view that I don’t think its our place to tell her what she should do, but again, I’m not in that situation… Let me know what you think!
Summer is coming fast and furious and before you know it the kids will be out of school for the next few months. Interestingly enough, we received a note from the teacher that has asked us to try and keep our children focused until the end of the school year.
I remember being a kid and the days started getting longer and longer. The hotter it got outside, the less chance of me caring what was going on in school. This went not only for elementary school but all the way through college.
So before you know it the kids will be climbing the walls of your homes looking for something to do. Do you have a plan?
Now is the time to get the kiddos in swimming lessons, or any structured activity for that matter. The rec centers are full of classes for the kids during the summer.
What’s Mommies plan of action? I plan on having something planned for every day. Whether it be taking a walk around the neighborhood or painting, we’ll have something planned.
Got some good ideas? Share em!
Yet again, Manhattan Toys have come through with some pretty cool toys for kids. Last time I told you about Groovy Girls, which I still stand by as a great toy to help develop your childs self image. This time they’ve come out with Automoblox, what is described as “contemporary heirloom toys”. Not only are these cars straight cool, but they provide honest learning experiences to your child. They can take them completely apart, switch parts with other Automoblox vehicles, and create new cars that are only found in their imagination.
Honestly, they are well made, sturdy, and something that any boy (or man, my husband included) would find interesting. They have already won the Oppenheim Toy Best Toy Award. One thing to keep in mind is that these aren’t for kids 3 and under.
Anyhow, check them out, as they get my Mommies Home endorsement!!
Great video and song, but I can tell you it confused my toddler to no end! Check out this video…
I just can’t get enough of this ad, it just screams ME…
Is peanut butter a staple in your home? For us it is usually just around for the school ager and her lunches for school. But in both my pregnancies I’ve delved into a peanut butter frenzy. With my first pregnancy I ate peanut butter every single day, on a whole wheat bagel. I loved it! This time it’s more peanut butter with honey on toast or rolled up in a tortilla. But honestly I’ve been eating a ton of peanut butter.
Then the peanut world exploded when salmonella was found as the culprit in making hundreds sick and killing some people that ate peanut butter… Read the rest of this entry »
Valentines Day is just around the corner. I remember being a kid and loving that day. We had school parties where we got candy, cupcakes, tons of cards, it was almost like Halloween. As I got older, I either loved or hated the day, depending on if I had a boyfriend at the time or not. Even sometimes when I had a boyfriend I hated the day! Now, as a married Mommie, I view the day as much different than I used to… Read the rest of this entry »
