What Are The Headaches From
Mar 3rd, 2009 by Mommie

baby in bath with mom

Sometimes I end up doing posts here on Mommies Home.net that come from me researching questions this Mommie has. This is one of those posts, as I ended up with one heck of a headache yesterday. I was in more pain than labor:-) That being said, what can those headaches be caused by after child birth? Read the rest of this entry »

Peanut Butter Rant
Feb 12th, 2009 by Mommie

Is peanut butter a staple in your home? For us it is usually just around for the school ager and her lunches for school. But in both my pregnancies I’ve delved into a peanut butter frenzy. With my first pregnancy I ate peanut butter every single day, on a whole wheat bagel. I loved it! This time it’s more peanut butter with honey on toast or rolled up in a tortilla. But honestly I’ve been eating a ton of peanut butter.

Then the peanut world exploded when salmonella was found as the culprit in making hundreds sick and killing some people that ate peanut butter… Read the rest of this entry »

Sleep Deprivation… Are you ready?
Feb 8th, 2009 by Mommie

sleep deprivated woman

When I had my first baby, I didn’t want to be away from him, not for a second. In the hospital I wouldn’t let them take him out of the room, even when I was so exhausted I couldn’t see straight. I get home from the hospital and was taken aback by having to breastfeed him every hour and a half, and then I wouldn’t go to sleep when he did. I would try to clean, or cook, or eat. At night, I slept with my hand on him in his bassinet so I could make sure he was breathing.

I shouldn’t have been surprised when I had a case of the baby blues that was rather intense, I’m still impressed that it was as bad as it was. It never occurred to me that not getting enough sleep would have anything to do with the baby blues. I just never put the two together. So what can you do? Read the rest of this entry »

Too Much Fruit
Jan 13th, 2009 by Mommie

apple

All of this B-R-A-T diet mumbo jumbo is leaving this Mommie craving two things, fruits and vegetables! I can’t wait until I can start back in to my regular way of eating again. But since I’m still on this silly diet, I wanted to make sure I don’t overdo it when I ease back into my regular diet. So I was wondering how much fruit is too much fruit? New Year’s Resolutions
Jan 5th, 2009 by Mommie

I had mentioned in a post before Christmas that I’d definitely have New Year’s resolutions, but that I just haven’t thought of any yet. But now we are closing the first week of 2009, so I guess I should get my resolutions up here so I don’t make a liar out of myself! Read the rest of this entry »

Not Sold On The Crazy Veggie Ideas
Jan 4th, 2009 by Mommie

I was reading through a magazine the other day and came across an article on how to get your kids to eat vegetables. It didn’t go into tricks on how to get them to eat veggies, instead it had these recipes to try on your kids to get them to eat veggies.

I’m all for new recipes, but there’s this new trend on the “trendy” food. It made me laugh, as the following recipes were included: Read the rest of this entry »

Wake Up And Eat!
Dec 30th, 2008 by Mommie

When I was pregnant the first time, I stopped drinking all coffee. But I definitely had an issue when it came to waking up, or should I say staying awake throughout the day. Kids have that same lull in their day, happening both when they wake up and mid-day during school. So what’s the best way to combat it?

Grill Inside
Dec 30th, 2008 by Mommie

With winter here, at least for us Coloradans, you can’t really do a family barbecue until spring hits. I always think it’s healthier to grill burgers than to fry them (although when I fry them it reminds me of my mom making them for us when we were kids). When I was single I always used my George Foreman grill. It worked great and I loved to see the fat just pour out of that machine. But now we have a house of four, soon to be five, so how do we grill inside? Read the rest of this entry »

My Favorite Christmas Present
Dec 29th, 2008 by Mommie

juicing

Now that Christmas is all said and done, I always turn my thoughts to the year ahead. This year I have many goals, but one has gotten a little help from a Christmas present from my husband. He always scares me because he doesn’t really ask me what I want, he just thinks about what he thinks I might want and then gets that. This year he got me a gift that I just love, but I’m sure 99% of people wouldn’t… Read the rest of this entry »
