Check 4 Lead

lead test kit

Last year during Christmas time, the toy market suffered a huge blow when toys were discovered with harmful amounts of lead in them. It led many people to buy only American made toys that were guaranteed to have low amounts of lead in them. Kind of a scary thing, as my baby was about 8 months old and I could just see him getting tons of toys that would make him grow a second head. But there are ways to do a lead test at home…

One site lists many of the current toys that have been recalled, showing why a lead test is so important to have done. I started watching this when I first started up Mommies Home.net, and actually was floored when some of my daughters toys were recalled.

Now you can buy a lead paint kit that you can use at home to check your children’s toys and other household items. The Consumer Product Safety Commission endorses these as a great way to find high levels of lead in paint. They are easy to use, just swab them on whatever your checking and they turn red if there is lead present in the paint.

Think about it this Christmas when you’re buying those thousands of toys for your family!
