When I was single there's only one thing I thought about, and I think it was me. No one depended upon me, but me, no one needed my care and attention, it was just me. Now that I've got the blooming family, there are a few things that I need to do to make sure my family is taken care of:
-Life Insurance - We have some of this on my husband, but then what about me. I'd want my kids to be taken care of. Anyhow, there are numerous types out there, so find the one that's right for you, including the cheaper term life insurance.
-Savings Built Up - This one is fairly hard for all families, especially those living on one income. But when the time comes, you may need all the savings you can get. Rule of thumb is six months worth of salary into your savings account (we're about 10% there, lol)
-Other Insurance - There are many different types of insurance, including auto, home owners, health. All of these need to be reviewed in order to get the optimal coverage for your family at whatever stage of life you're at. We just redid our car insurance and saved some $$ (being a SAHM means I hardly ever drive, therefore our insurance premiums decreased...did you guys know that was a benefit?)
