I think the things you discussed should be done whether you have one income or two. We are a nation with a negative savings rate. You offer some sound advice towards getting ones financial house in order. My wife and I both work, but we [nearly] live off one income. The other is used to save, invest and to use for emergencies. Great post!

Awwwwwww, that's just not right. Kids that age really thrive on that sort of attention and it really does help give them a sense of accomplishment. It also urges them on to continue the behavior. I'm sure your munchkins get that support at home anyway, but so many don't.

My son was invited to a similar ceremony for Perfect attendance. It's his first as he is in Kindergarten. The "ceremony" started at 6:30 pm, starting with a PTA meeting and then the awards for all the kids. I inquired ahead of time as to what would happen, same thing. They would call their name and have them stand up. We didn't go. I wasn't about to have the kids sit for 30 minutes through a PTA meeting just to stand and hear his name. Especially since 7:30 is bed time.

Ya, I'm still floored that he got one. He wasn't sick at all, no hint of it, nothing. Crazy.

It seems like so often teachers aren't given time to do things they want to do at assemblies. I have had to do every assembly the same way...I call the kid's names...they stand....they sit. We always seem to be on a time constraint. I would ask your daughter's teacher or principal if you would take a picture with the adults, your daughter and the award/certificate. Then frame it for her wall.

Oh. the poor little guy. I remember when my son had double ear infections. He was not a happy boy. Fortunately, the two little ones have never had ear infections (knock on wood). Hope he feels better soon.

We just started trying to potty train our son (he is 25 months old). He always tells me right after he goes. Hopefully I can get him to let me know right before he goes soon. If not, he will learn in his own time I guess.
