    First Trimester Exhaustion

    By Mommie | July 26, 2008

I must apologize to my readers, as I haven’t been posting as much lately. I also haven’t had time to drop as many Entrecards as usual. Why? I think the exhaustion is upon me in full force…

During your first trimester, your body has to work exceptionally hard in order to deal with the “growing” that your body is doing. The baby is doubling in size constantly, your uterus is growing, everything is expanding. Your body is making more blood, up to twice as much as usual.

I remember this with my son, I would go out to my car at lunch and take naps. Well, now I have a rambunctious, and I do mean rambunctious to the fullest power, 15 month old and my energy level plummets at about 11 am. I’m lucky if I can even get up off the couch. I’ve never been so tired. I feel like I should take out travel insurance just in case I fall asleep at the wheel!

So how do you deal with first trimester exhaustion?

    1. Take naps - nothing wrong with this at all. Steal sleep when you can!

    2. Go to bed earlier - the more sleep you get, the better. Keep this in mind because after the baby comes, you won’t be getting any.

    3. Exercise - this one is the hardest for me. I’m exhausted, can hardly stand up, and you want me to exercise! Well, exercise will actually give you a boost that will help you through the day.

    4. Eat small meals - this keeps your metabolism up and you’ll feel more awake throughout the day.

    5. Eat healthy - When you’re tired, it’s way easier to go out to eat. But be forewarned, the faster the food, the more tired you’ll be. Opt for fruits or vegetables and healthy protein.

Hopefully these will help, although I get so tired I can hardly imagine anything helping, but it will.

And if my husband reads this, sorry the kitchen is messy and you haven’t had a home cooked meal this week…

I’m halfway through my second trimester and the exhaustion is terrible. I have a 2 1/2 year old and he does not care that I’m tired, lol.

I’ve been taking at least an hour nap every single day and going to bed early. Sometimes I’m lucky and I’ll get another nap late in the afternoon while my son plays.

I do not remember being this tired with my first pregnancy.

Well, I don’t know personally, but I’ve seen my wife go through this. We have about three weeks to go and like someone said, this will pass.
Wait until you start having strange aches. No lie, my wife just came home with some wrist straps because her wrists are hurting. All I can do is be there for her.

Trimester is the hardest and most important period during your pregnancy period and I hope you take full rest now. Just relax and slow down on your addiction on blogging. That is okay, as long as you can share with us your baby photo or video.
