Furniture Dilema
By Mommie | November 2, 2008
I’m still, to this day, floored as to how some homes are always show room perfect and try as I might, mine just doesn’t seem that way. Even though I’ve had compliments that my home is much cleaner than others, I still don’t seem to get the “show room” look that I crave. No amount of Crate and Barrel magazines can take the place of a nice decorating job…
It’s no secret, we don’t have contemporary furniture in our home, we just don’t. From what I’ve seen, my 18 month old still has years of spilling stuff on our furniture or carving with scissors into our dining room table. Plus we have another on the way, and that one will do the same thing!
I don’t care if we have European furniture or modern furniture, it’ll all be covered in pieces of goldfish crackers and milk at some point. So how do you keep this looking show room like?
I guess you need to keep the kids off of it completely, but what fun is that. I figure it’s like our cars, we’ll get the cool cars once the kids are old enough to have their own cars. We’ll get the nice furniture when the kids are old enough for me to tell them to stay away from it and they’ll listen!

Even if you have modern furniture you dont have to necessarily worry about stains and children causing damage. The best way is to have fabrics such as the Crypton fabric that resists stains greatly or to scotchguard the furniture which helps alot with the cleanup of lifes little spills.

This site reminds me of my daughters. I’m sending both to read your posts.
Thanks
