Anyone who has been pregnant knows that your hair changes during pregnancy, either for the better or the worse, but it does change. These changes are due to the increased amount of hormones within the woman’s body. These hormones can do pretty much anything to your hair, make it grow thick and fast, fall out, get oily, dry out, your hair could straighten or get curly, pretty much anything can happen. So what do you do when your hair gets too dry?
There are a few things you can do:
1. Wash your hair less frequently, as the oils in your scalp are good for your hair
2. Let your hair air dry (this one is pretty much a given)
3. Use a deep treatment conditioner. Bumble and Bumble have one out that is great for treated hair, you can get it at My Bumble and Bumble. Look at it like you’re giving your hair a huge drink of water! This will restore some of the lost moisture in your hair.
4. Massage your scalp, this aids in oil production (and it’s relaxing too)
Now as with anything while you’re pregnant, it is always good to stay clear of coloring or perming your hair. Just think of all the chemicals that are in hair coloring products, just think of the smell of a perm, and you just know why it’s probably a good idea to stay clear. Although there has been no evidence of danger to the fetus, it’s better to be safe than sorry. I’m so bad that I had some Veet that I threw out because it was so strong that I don’t even want the option of it getting to my baby.
Keep in mind that anything can happen when you’re pregnant (my sisters hair turned really dark), so just baby yourself!
