Harry Potter and the First Grader of Knowledge
By Mommie | August 27, 2008
Sounds like the next Harry Potter book, doesn’t it! So last year I read the first two Harry Potter books to our first grader (then a kindergartener). She did fairly good with the content and was definitely thirsty for more.

It’s recommended that you read to your children everyday. Our childs school says 10 minutes, but I usually read a “story” or a few chapters in a book. Now that the new school year has started I’m back to reading to her almost every night. So what do I want to read to her, why Harry Potter of course!
Buy.com has a fairly good sale going on for the Harry Potter sets. I can get the first 6 for around $30. Not bad!
In addition to all the regular Harry Potter books, they also have the newest Harry Potter installment on sale, The Tale of the Beedle Bard. This looks to be a decent installment, although the hype in the release sure wasn’t the same.
No matter what you’re reading to your child, it’s an important part of their development. Life gets busy and sometimes it’s hard to do the reading at night, but just that small amount of together time and attention seems to do wonders for our daughter. She’s excited about the story for the night, no matter if it’s Harry Potter or just an adventure book. Here’s to all the mommy and daddy late night story readers!

I’ve been reading my rising kindergartener Harry Potter, too. My husband and I our huge fans, and he’s just soaking it up! Can’t wait for the new book!
