House Hunting Fears

Now that we have an offer on a house, in come the fears. There are so many things to be wary of, I cannot even think of how long the list would be if I wrote them all out here. But here are a few things for that house hunter in you to be aware of:
- Asbestos - Many of the older homes have this in them and it needs to be cleaned up by a specialty team. If not this could lead to mesothelioma, a certain type of cancer.
- Hidden Problems - When I bought my townhome, everything looked great. One day I woke up and there were 2 inch mushrooms growing out of the carpet in the bathroom. Ya, we had to redo the bathroom completely.
- Neighborhood - While a house may be great, one in a bad neighborhood or one with bad neighbors can be down right horrifying. Make sure and look at the neighborhood you’re moving into before making the investment.
