This month a lot has changed on Mommies Home.Net. Some for the better, some for the seemingly worse, but all change in my book is good. So I made a ton this month, but not from the site per say. So how did the site do and where did I make my money?
The biggest change for Mommies Home.Net was ending almost all participation in Entrecard. I have been on the top of the Parenting category in Entrecard pretty much since it started and have been quite proud of it. I dropped 300 cards a day faithfully for well over a year. But after I got my thousandth virus from the sites on there, I decided that I couldn’t do it anymore. The trade off was getting someone to hit my site for about 2 seconds in return for hours and hours cleaning, reformatting and losing information on my computer. I would put in time everyday to drop cards and it just wasn’t giving me the return I needed.
I did lose traffic, but it was high bounce traffic, hitting the site long enough to see the header and then they were off. But the funny thing is that I didn’t lose as much traffic as I thought I would. I’m still receiving around 200+ unique hits a day and the people coming usually stick around for a while. I left the Entrecard on my site, as I’m still a part of it, but I don’t drop anymore. My time is spent in a much more effective manner.
Another change in Mommies Home.Net was the Google spank I received. They stripped my page rank, as they said I was participating in a link scheme. I have never and will never participate in any link scheme, but I guess they don’t care. I have a reconsideration request in with Google, but they are so big that they could care less and are exceptionally slow! The page rank will come back, it always does. In the meantime, this does effect some of the income that comes from Mommies Home.Net, but it didn’t effect it enough to matter.
Currently Alexa rating is at 279,479. I stopped dropping Entrecards at the end of December and you can see how my traffic was effected. I now get higher quality hits to the site, which actually is a valuable plus.

I’ve decreased the number of 125 spots available on my site, as it was taking up valuable space and wasn’t really generating as much revenue as I’d like. It’s now down to one spot.
I started on Twitter, although I’m still not a big fan. I’m just not into logging on and typing 2 sentences, but that may change, you never know.
So for the big bucks this month, I actually focused on Amazon and Craigslist. As I’ve mentioned in other posts, my husband is in kind of a cleaning/organizing mode. We went through a table in our basement and he gave me a whole bunch of his old text books to try to sell. No joke, we have made over $500 in just a few weeks. So needless to say, I’ve been focused on that this month. Now that we’ve sold the lions share, it’s back to the mainstay that has helped me make money with Mommies Home.Net for February.
Surveys brought in money, as they always do. I’m never unhappy about how much I make, due to the fact that it’s basically free money. Although I must say, the more tired I get, the less apt I am to finish a 30 minute survey on diapers for the 400th time for $2. I skipped a lot of those this month.
I’m not sure if February will be a banner month or not, as the baby will hopefully arrive soon. Therefore I’m not setting any goals (other than to sleep as much as I can now and relax if I ever get a chance)!
