No More Halloween Parties For The Kiddos

I was floored this year when one of the other moms told me that the schools were no longer going to have Halloween parties at the schools. They weren’t even going to let the kids dress up, not at all. I figured she must be wrong so I asked my daughters teacher, and sure enough, no more Halloween in school for the kiddos!
The kids actually didn’t have school on Halloween, which I must admit was nice when you have to get ready for your own Halloween party at your home. But still, you get the kids into costumes that they wear for like 4 hours and none of their friends even get to see it. It was somewhat sad.
I was given no explanation as to why this came about from the teacher, only that the PTO was putting on a school fundraiser the night before Halloween to let the kids show off their costumes. I was hoping they would take some of the great fundraising ideas and do “everlasting suckers” or something to raise some funds.
I’m glad our PTO takes every opportunity to do fundraising activities for my daughters school, I just do with that they would just let the kids enjoy Halloween. Last year they had a huge issue with the difference between a Holiday party and a Christmas party, yet another fight they continue to get in year after year. Come on though, it’s Halloween…

My daugter is only 2 and in day care right now. It is day care in a church. They had ‘orange day’ on halloween. They played games with pumpkins and colored fall items.
But when she’s in public school she better have both halloween and Christmas parties or there’s going to be big trouble
I fear if obama is elected well have more of this holiday party BS.
