Not Pregnant and Now Ugly
By Mommie | May 25, 2008
I wasn’t sure if I’d blog about this or not, but I figured I would anyhow. This was our first month of trying to get pregnant. But I’m not pregnant. I’m not sure what I was expecting, as it took us over a year to get pregnant with our son. I guess I was just hoping that my husband would just have to look at me and I’d be pregnant. But, alas, we’ll hope for next month…
On top of that, my daughter was watching TV with us tonight. I was sitting on the couch embroidering and my husband was next to me. A commercial came on for ProActive, ya know, the acne system. So my daughter pipes up “I’m not saying you need this or anything mom, but you should probably get that because you have a lot of zits. Wouldn’t it be nice to have those go away?” I hope she doesn’t see a commercial for exercise bikes and pipe up with, “I’m not saying you need this but…”.
Great. Just what I needed. If any of you remember, I had even gone to the dermatologist to get everything under control, but what they prescribed would have been pretty bad if I were to get pregnant, so I decided to go with the healthy baby instead of the clear face. I’m still sticking with my decision, but with a heavier heart.

My five-year-old hit me with a similar comment two days ago after a ProActive commercial
“Mommy, you should get that”
“Why, honey?”
“Because it will make you beautiful”
“I’m not beautiful?” ~slight hesitation here by my daughter as she figures out how to dig herself out of a hole~
“It will make you MORE beautiful” she stated with a triumphant grin
I think they should ban those commercials.
Good luck getting pregnant! While we were trying to get pregnant with daughter#2, I recall many disappointing mornings peeing on a stick.

Awwwwwwwww, hugs sweets. Kids say the darndest things never realizing how they can hurt sometimes. I know you know this already though. The most important thing is that when you do get preggie, you’ll know you gave the lil munchkin every chance to be healthy no matter what it may cost you for now. You’re beautiful no matter what, inside AND out.
Now…….don’t tell anyone EVER that i said anything this sappy lol. I have a rep to uphold after all.

I’m sorry you are having a rough day. Trying to conceive is a lot harder emotionally than a lot of people realize. (((HUGS)))

I know how you feel. I waited 14 months to get pregnant from my son. My second child was a little different, 8 months after I started trying I got pregnant and had a miscarriage than 4 more months and I was pregnant of my daughter. It’s a terrible wait mixed with crying and anxiety.
Keep trying, your day will arrive.

hi there =)
I think you made the right choice. when we become parents our children’s interest comes first. I have atopic dermatitis and I am 6 weeks pregnant. I normally treat my skin condition with steroids but for my baby’s sake, I choose not to.

So true, so true. Battling skin troubles while preganant or wanting to become pregnant is tricky!
I had a very good experience while using the Kinerase skincare system while pregnant. Very gentle, great for sensitive skin, and really made my skin glow. I have also heard good things about the Boscia skincare line.
Right now I am reviewing a blue light (light therapy) device that kills the bacteria that causes acne, and is supposedly safe to use while pregnant/nursing and has no side effects. In four weeks, I will post my pictures and before and after pictures.
Best wishes and hope to hear from you sometime!
