A mom never wants to think about their little ones getting older. In my mind, my son will be 11 months old forever. My daughter will never be older than 6. She will never have to deal with any issues that face young girls today, she’ll just be 6 forever. But that’s not the case in real life.
The fact is that kids try their first cigarette around the age of 9 or 10. While the most common drug use comes around 15, kids still have access to and try drugs at a young age. Many kids do wind up in drug treatment at young ages.
While we can’t shelter our children forever from the bad in the world, we can talk to our kids. From preschool to age 7 you can already discuss certain things with your kids, such as cigarettes or even drugs. My daughter may not know what cocaine is, but she can tell you that smoking cigarettes can kill you and it’s bad.
Don’t wait to have the drug or smoking discussion with your kids! Do it early and often! DON’T FORGET TO SUBSCRIBE SO YOU DON’T MISS A THING!
