SAHM Cash Making Options
October 4th, 2008 by Mommie

When I became a Stay At Home Mom, I already had a job. It was taking care of the kids, keeping up the house, the cooking, cleaning, homework with the kiddos, laundry, pretty much everything there is to keeping a home. But I wanted to contribute more to the household then just that, I also wanted to contribute some $$$$. Here’s some options for any SAHM that wants to earn some extra money for the home:

cash

1. Online Surveys – This is how I started out making a little bit of cash. I knew a woman who worked with me a while back that did online surveys and they paid her actual cash! I thought I’d check it out and see if it was legit or not. A lot turned out not to be legit, but a lot did. I started making money pretty quickly. Now I’ll never make a living at it, and I don’t want to. But it sure is nice to receive some extra cash just for voicing my opinion. Check out my surveys that pay page to get a listing of the good AND the bad ones.

2. Blog for Cash – This one is a double edge sword. If you have a blog and you get decent traffic, you can sign up with many of the “pay to blog” sites out there. They all seem to pay fairly well and pretty fast. The down side is that when some people see a link in a blog, they automatically think “paid review”. Any that I do I try to fit into my normal posting, as not to decrease the relevance or the informational factor of the post. You can make some good money with this.

3. Affiliate “Hell” – That’s the name of a blog I found once through Entrecard, it made me laugh. If you have a website, you can basically “recommend” sites or products for people. These can pay very good, but the thing is that people must click on them. It’s always good to have target specific affiliate links.

4. Ebay, Amazon or Craigslist – This actually has made me some decent money. These are two different outlets you can use to sell some of your unwanted stuff. I’ve sold anywhere from books to car rims. You don’t have to sell wholesale electronics in order to make some quick cash with this one. The only thing is that sometimes this can be labor intensive, especially if you get a hot item on Craigslist.

5. The Job Route – The problem with being a SAHM with little ones is that it’s just so hard to get anything done with kids running around screaming. But there are many jobs that you can do after the kids go to bed! There are numerous writing jobs, or freelance jobs, that allow you to work at your own pace (such as those precious hours after the kids go down.

6. Create Something! – Make your own business by building up your own empire! Well, actually, just create something, anything, and sell it. You’ll feel like a million bucks, as it’s your creation you’re selling.

No matter what you decide to do, you’ll be earning money for your family. I’ve been able to get us out of credit card debt and actually start saving instead of spending. It’s amazing what a mom can do when properly motivated, such as having her family as her motivation!
