Sex On TV Linked To Teen Pregnancy
November 13th, 2008 by Mommie

sex and the city

Oh, ya think! This study came out that showed that teens are exposed to sexual content once every 10 minutes of TV watched (I’m assuming they aren’t watching cartoon network!). The article points to parental responsibility, or lack thereof, that is the root cause of the increased teen pregnancy rating. This being said, guess what, I agree…

I’m floored at the kind of TV that is on regular networks these days. Just FLOORED. My husband and I watch TV at night before bed and here’s what’s on: Sex and the City, Nip Tuck, Manswers. These are some of the most sexually explicit shows out there. We’re watching these at 9 pm, what teenager isn’t up at that time!

But I wouldn’t say that the watching of these shows leads to pregnancy, more that the lack of communication regarding sex puts the teens at a higher risk.

So what do you think? Is this study right? Let me know your thoughts.
