Ah Men…
Feb 6th, 2009 by Mommie

I awoke this morning at 3am, just another early wake up. Then I realized that I was having some decent contractions. I laid there for a while and then decided to time them, they were 7-8 minutes apart. I timed for about 2 hours and they stayed the same length apart, lasting about a minute and very uncomfortable.

So I figured if I’m in labor, I had better get up and dry some clothes in the dryer that should be in my hospital bag already and take a shower. I figured it was early, so I took a long shower, using most of the hot water. I figured the hot water would replenish by the time my husband got up. I was wrong.

He got up and I told him that I thought I might be in labor. His response… “Uh huh. There better be hot water left.” Ah men… So what are the things a man should do when his significant other is in labor?

Pregnancy Update – 33 weeks
Jan 6th, 2009 by Mommie

I started my 33rd week. I have a prenatal appointment tomorrow, which I’m somewhat looking forward to as my doctor is off her maternity leave. Funny, I missed her! I start going every two weeks now, which seems like a lot, but I’m happy to be checked out.

33 weeks pregnant

As strange as it sounds, I’ve begun to become more worried, apprehensive and stressed than I was with my first one. I thought I’d be carefree because I know what to expect, but I’m definitely not. I worry about things like “Three kids might be to much for me”. I saw a woman with the same space of kids as I have (except her baby was born) in the grocery store the other day and it was almost humorous. Her 2 year old was in the basket of the buggy screaming, her baby was in a carrier in the front crying and her 6-7 year old was walking next to the cart begging for a cookie. The mom looked exhausted and you could tell it wasn’t a happy day in that family. I almost cried. I hope I figure out how to do it, my mom did! I never hear her talk about it being hard, so it must be doable! Read the rest of this entry »

Hormone Abyss
Dec 18th, 2008 by Mommie

angry woman

After my sister-in-law had her last baby, now 2, her and her husband decided that was it for them. When I asked them why they didn’t want one more, I was surprised by the answer. It wasn’t that they didn’t want one, or that they couldn’t afford one (the normal answers), it was that her husband couldn’t stand another round of his wife pregnant. They both agreed, it was a bad idea to have another one just based on that fact alone. At first I thought he was just being mean until I heard the stories from my sister-in-law… Read the rest of this entry »
