What The Boys Want
By Mommie | November 11, 2008

I had the misfortune of glancing through a toy ad today. I say misfortune because I’m still floored at all of the merchandise that the toy manufacturers produce every year, plus all of the advertising that they put on TV to get our kids to go crazy for it. Today my daughter asked for a dog named “Biscuit”, which come to find out is a $160 toy dog…YA NO! But then there’s what a boy would want…
My husband has been blessed with a son, with whom he can share his love for all things boy, including radio control toys. Our son isn’t even two and has had the pleasure of playing with some of the best Mini RC toys that money can buy. He’s also had the pleasure of breaking a few of them, but so be it.
So why are boys (and men) so attached to anything radio controlled? I asked my husband and his response, as limited as it was, was that “they were cool and fun, its a guy thing, you wouldn’t understand”. Hmmm, ok, well this is quite humorous, as he said it with a straight face. That being said, I’m sure he’ll want something radio controlled for Christmas, like RC tanks, or something like that.
I guess I must submit myself to a lifetime of helicopters, sports cars and boats, all of which fill our basement to some degree. I’m sure when my son gets a few years older he’ll end up with enough to fill his room! Must be a guy thing…
