What To Do With A Kids Bathroom

    By Mommie | March 24, 2008

So when we started fixing up our place to sell, there was one area I had ZERO desire to touch, my daughters bathroom! She is lucky enough to have her own bathroom, but that makes the parents very unlucky when having to clean it. She’s 6, so there’s some things she doesn’t quite get yet…

When you would go in her bathroom there was an overpowering stench of soap. Now you’d say “soap smells clean”, but no. She uses Oil of Old Lady (:-)) soap in a scrunchie, but the issue is I guess she never rinses it out. So there’s like 2 months worth of to much soap in it and it doesn’t smell good after a while. Ugh, to clean that was icky.

Then there’s the fact that she decided to hang on her towel rack, which ripped a big hole in our drywall. Great. Don’t they teach things like “a little metal rod won’t hold up a 6yr old” in kindergarten? Guess not, so that had to be fixed.

Other things such as the sink and light fixtures had to be replaced, but we opted for just the sink and kept the light fixtures as is. If we were staying in our house longer we might update, but not now.

Then we had to paint, washing the walls of all the toothpaste (not quite sure how it gets all over the walls, but whatever) and kid muck. After all of this was done, we had to strip her bathroom of pink and replace the towels and shower curtain for a nice updated look that appeals to the masses.

My daughter, well, hopefully she’ll learn to live with it for now. All her stuff is under the sink, I don’t think she likes that to well. Here’s to selling a house with a boring, non-kid bathroom…StumbleUpon
