Now that we are in house selling mode, we spent all weekend painting, cleaning, moving, dusting, vacuuming, packing, the list goes on and on (as my aching hands show). So now the question becomes what do we keep and what do we throw?
Our garage is one place where this question comes up. We have a huge mix of junk, all of which I’d love to throw! Never underestimate the value of that old junk in your garage! This weekend alone we’ve sold quite a lot through Craigslist. Rims for a car we no longer have, some baby stuff that were duplicates, radio for a car we no longer have, things like that. If someone might be able to use it, try to sell it before you decide to increase your trash pile.
But then there’s the stuff I know my husband won’t part with. Case in point, his golf clubs. Before I start getting mean men comments on here about how terrible I am as a wife to think about tossing my husbands golf clubs, let me just say that he’s no Tiger. I’ve never known him to golf in all the time I’ve known him. It’s not like he’s got a whole set of Callaway irons or something. They are just a mismatch of clubs, in a dusty golf bag, that takes up room in our garage.
My rule is that if you haven’t used it in the past year, it goes. Either sell it, donate it or toss it, it’s that simple. But I guess those rules don’t always apply to everything, including the dusty clubs.
