Yes, yes, I was stricken with another virus from an Entrecard site today. This time it happened on my laptop. I still can’t figure out which site it’s coming from, due to how I drop cards. So that’s two viruses in less than 5 days. Great. This puts quite a damper on everything, from posting to my own site to visiting my fav’s on a daily basis.
Please be careful when dropping cards!
How do you get a virus from someone dropping cards?
I hope I avoid catching a virus! Hopefully, that virus protection I’ve got installed is pretty solid. Should you find out where the virus is coming from, I’d certainly get in touch with Entrecard.
Good luck!
Bummer!
I was cruising Ecards to get here.
Here’s the problem, People load there blogs with massive amounts of Java / embedded code for pay click widgets, and when one gets hacked …. so does every site with “that” widget. Seems like it is geeting more common, and I agree, it’s geting dangerous to just click through to blog after blog. I never liked sites that look like flashing billboards anyway!
Good luck, and hello from SpeedyCat
Yes, Speedcat is correct. Anything running JavaScript can be a risk. Here are some tips for anyone who may be concerned. Anti-Virus, there is no reason why people shouldn’t have it and up to date virus defs. If you don’t have Anti-Virus, AVG is pretty good and so is ClamWin Anti-Virus, the best part is that they are free. Also, download and install SpyBotS&D. This is the best and free way to remove any spyware you may have. Comcast users, go to the Comcast home page (home.comcast.net) and scroll to the bottom and click on Anti-Virus and Firewall, this is the McAfee Security Suite that Comcast is offering to its customers for free. For AVG, google AVG Free or google ClamWin, you can also google Spybot to get to their download. Any questions on this, email mommie and she will forward them to me.
WOW, I have not run into this and didn’t know that anyone was having problems. If you figure out where it is coming from post a followup.
Oh no! That’s scary. I do know a site that for the past 3 days, my software has notified me that it is attempting to download something onto my computer. I have sent a message to that EC user to let them know that I’ll no longer be dropping on their site until they remove it.
All that java nonsense and ads are the reason I don’t drop or by ads from anyone who’s pages take longer than 30-45seconds to load. First of all it’s incosiderate, second of all, while all that nonsense is loading (paid ads, annoying java nonsense, unresized images etc.)
“Daddy” has some outstanding advice, but I’ve got some better Switch to linux! one year, astounding uptime (longest my computer has been off was when I went on vacation for a week. Second longest was maybe a day) this thing is stable as a mountain. Zero Virii!
Good looking sight I’ll be returning!
Ya, I think the issue ended up being that our firewall was down for some reason. This let some not so nice things onto the computer. Just sucks, again today my antivirus kicked a trojan before it got onto my computer, from another entrecard site. Sucks!
You know, I got a virus twice I think, and I swore it was from entrecard! I actually stopped using it for awhile. Good to know I am not crazy!
I’d almost bet it’s rogue code in some of these ads.
Used to happen with pop ups and banner ads all the time to perpetuate click fraud
Mom got hit bad – her PC is loaded after dropping this week. We’re stuck using the laptop and steering clear of entrecard (other than blogs we love)
