YouTube People Need A Hobby
February 6th, 2009 by Mommie

I finally decided to take off some of my Mommies Home.net videos from YouTube. I had put up two different videos on the “Grocery Game”, or should I say the independents version of the grocery game. I thought it would help people who didn’t want to pay for the actual “Grocery Game” and instead had the time and energy to do it themselves.

you tube

Honestly, people need to get a life. I’ve gotten more hate comments on those than anything…

I had a video on there about how to get through the coupons quickly, based upon what my family buys. I had people commenting such angry posts, I was surprised! How can coupons bring out the freak in people? It’s coupons people. I understand that you may do it a different way, but I’m not going to buy Depends Undergarments because I have a coupon and they are on sale… I DON’T NEED THEM, I DON’T USE THEM, I WON’T BE BUYING THEM NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU TELL ME I’M AN IDIOT FOR NOT CUTTING OUT THE DEPENDS COUPON!!!

I think YouTube is a place where people can say anything they want, which is their right. But I also know that people act much differently when they aren’t standing in front of you. My silly video about cutting out coupons and trying to help my fellow SAHM led to me being called stupid, arrogant and ignorant. Would those people have said those things to my face? I believe they would not have. Do you know why? Because it’s a stupid video of me cutting out coupons!!!

So I indeed have taken those videos down, as I’m sick of getting e-mails from YouTube saying “You have a new comment” only to see angry women with nothing better to do with their time other than write nasty stuff to someone they’ve never met about meaningless issues. Seriously people, just smile and move on!

I have been posting You Tube videos so that I can embed them on my blog. I don’t even want people from You Tube to look at them, but as I know they will, I turned the comment option off. The only way that I have been able to figure to do this is to go back and edit the video after I have posted it. I don’t allow comments, ratings, video responses, nothing. If people don’t like my videos, they don’t need to watch them. I really don’t want to hear that type of stuff. I never received a bad comment, but I have seen what people say and just didn’t even want to go there. It is that whole “anonymous internet user”
mentality that can bring out the worst in some people.

I think you have useful information to provide and it’s unfortunate that so many kids are using YouTube and making comments such as what you received. Have you considered posting your videos at Associated Content? They may even pay you for them!

Why are people so rude? In today’s economic situation more people are looking for ways to save money. Try to put some good information out there and you get grief. Sorry it happened to you.

    People are weird.

I guess in real life they are mostly passive and walked on, so they feel powerful or something to be able to post nasty comments.

    Whatever floats their boat.
